Originally I had planned an intake at BUILD Performance to see if they were a good fit for me. It is always a matter of waiting to see if your wishes for strength training and nutrition match the style of training and coaching at a gym. Just before my first introduction to BUILD I was told that I had a burnout. I decided to leave the appointment anyway, you never know.

I was warmly welcomed. I had the introduction and intake with Nicole. She quickly shared her background and her journey with burnout with me. This reassured me enormously because she let me know that there was no rush or pressure. Everything could go in a way that I felt comfortable with. And that worked out really well.

Thanks to the regularity that comes with training, I have not fallen into a black hole of despair or depression. I feel very much at home and safe at BUILD and am lucky that Nicole has also become a kind of sounding board for me. I can share concerns and ideas with her. She not only challenges me physically but also offers insights from her own experience. There is never any pressure behind it, only encouragement. Her (and my) goal is to make you as strong as possible. Of course, that applies both physically and mentally.

In the meantime, I have become more daring and, perhaps even more importantly, I can also handle more thanks to Nicole's support and our collaboration. I walk almost every day, train twice a week at BUILD and also go running twice a week. Being outside and at least a little bit of exercise every day helps enormously. And that has been warmly encouraged from the start.
